not so little things: getting crafty

Just when I thought I was all that crafty, the world and the powers that be decided to take me back down to earth.  Let me share my story...

A few weekends ago, my daughter and I took a trip to a local pottery place to exercise our creativity.  I needed to be (feel?) productive, to use the right side of my brain after months of left side work.  So off we went...

Took me a while to decide what to do, and after much deliberation decided to use a nice oval dish for my project.

Not wanting to complicate things, I decided to copy the design on this stamp.  I picked out my paint colors and I was off to a great start.

I decided to "try it out" using the under side of the dish, and after finding the design to my satisfaction, I decided to replicate it on the top side.

I was impressed by my own creation.  Proud of my work, I was showing my plate around to anyone who would care to take a look at it.  The proprietress even remarked on the nice clean lines of my work.

Then, I took a look at what my daughter was making....

Free hand.  Not based on any existing art work.  She says its based on Australian aborigine art.  I'll take her word for it...

Pure creativity.  Makes me one proud mama.

p.s.  I'll post back after we pick up our glazed and fired work.

Wow! I's artwork is stunning! L's room needs some color so I'll have to commission her to create something similar. I'll bug/beg her this weekend . . .

P.S. Your piece is nice, too :)
