of our 2011 Project 52*
(*give or take a week here and there for vacations)
I don't really have a theme for this month, except to say that I will try to capture favorites. In that case, this month's theme is "favorites".
We've been in South Lake Tahoe this past week.
I am writing this post within hours of our arrival.
If you've been following this blog you
know that it is one of my favorite places on earth.
It's been over a year since our last trip to Tahoe,
so we made sure to stay longer and try to visit familiar places
and take in some new ones.
The beach at Zephyr Cove.
Because of the colder weather, we had the place all to ourselves.
The waters were so calm you could see a mirror image of the lines of trees
and of Miss Dixie on the dock.
So very zen.
A panoramic shot of the lake from Cave Rock.
We've been to Cave Rock once before, but never did venture out on the trail.
This time we made sure to explore every path available to us at Cave Rock.
The Hunk and I sat on a boulder
on the outermost edge of the trail, and took in the view.
We weren't prepared for the quiet (we were the only ones there)
and the beauty of it all.
We could have stayed there all day
(or at least until the park rangers took us away).
The Heavenly observation deck at 9,136 feet.
We've always wanted to get on the gondola but didn't do so until this trip.
Money well spent. The view from the observation deck alone
is worth the price of the lift tickets.
The kids spent a good chunk of time sledding
and engaging in snowball fights.
In case you need to be reminded of nature at it's finest,
Lake Tahoe (north or south), if just one of those places.
