a banner year, 2011 edition

Weeks #51 & #52
of our 2011 Project 52*
(*give or take a week here and there for vacations)

This month's theme is "favorites"...

Let's look back at the year that was... in banners.

For the first three months of 2011, I played with photoshop brushes,
and as you can see, I was just beginning to experiment with layers and colors.

During the second quarter, I discovered more brushes
and started creating backgrounds.
I also was well into layers, and colors.
Tried to use elements from each month to make the banner relevant.
Because it was spring to early summer - the grass was greener and the skies, bluer.

By the third quarter, the creative paradigm took a shift.
I felt that the banners had too much visual noise,
so I decided to take it down a notch (or three).
With changing of the season, the grass was a little less green,
and more autumn colors showing in the banners.

With the year almost near its end, you will see another shift in the creative aspect.
I got tired of my traditional approach and took on a simpler approach.
I kept some of my favorites - layers, adding design elements relevant to the month
and adding autumn to winter colors.

I already have some design ideas for 2012 banners,
and I can't wait to share those with you...

See you in 2012!
