This one is long overdue. A month or so ago, I wrote about taking some time off from my mommy duties to attend a reunion of sorts. I promised to write about the fantabulous restaurant where we broke bread (or cebiche, if you will), but life got in the way, and I have not been able to post about it.
So, here we are many moons late, and I finally get the chance to talk about that particular night...
My high school girlfriends get together around Memorial Day weekend for the past 2 years in a row. Last year, it was Vegas, baby! I was not able to go because we were in Maui around that time. This year, I made sure to clear my schedule.
Trust my dear friend, F, to plan a memorable dinner at a fancy - schmancy restaurant in downtown San Francisco. It was the kind you dress up for and I loved every minute of it --- from the getting ready to savoring each dish that was brought out to our table. We had a special section of the restaurant to ourselves, complete with a specially printed menu.
For our main entrees, we had a selection of pescado nikei (poached catch of the day over crimini mushrooms, ginger, scallions, bean sprouts, cilantro, and hot sesame oil, served with a side of chaufa rice), lomo saltado (traditional Peruvian stir-fry of sauteed beef tenderloin, onions, tomatoes, cilantro, soy sauce, garlic, aji amarillo, and fried potatoes), yucca fries.
Dessert was also a gastronomical delight - picarones, and chocolate brownie bites with ganache.
Looking forward to next year's reunion in the East Coast!
