a jolly good fellow (and restaurant)

Happy Monday morning to everyone!

If you've been following us along these past few years or months, you will know that my food posts are usually introduced by this photo:


A wineglass set on the table followed by photos of delicious food.  This post is no exception.

We recently helped a dear cousin celebrate the new 20 and discovered a marvelous hole-in-the-wall restaurant in Sac-Town.  Formolli's!

I did some preliminary research on the internet about what makes this place fill to the brim within 30 minutes from opening.  Almost all reviews pointed to the Whiskey Burger, and I will get to this awesome creation shortly.  Let me start you off with other items on the menu which we sampled:

 The petite fillet mignon.  Melt-in-your-mouth gastronomic delight.




The flank steak.  Take a piece of the meat add a bit of the sauce and the potato balls....Oooh, la la, baby!




The braised short ribs.  The Hunk in my life pretty much orders this dish whenever it is available (Roy's, Osha Thai) and this version did not disappoint.  Falling off the bone meat on a bed of buttery mashed potatoes. And, the gravy....words cannot do it justice....I actually asked for extra "gravy" for my fries...



The Whiskey Burger.  Good for two people! Had just the right amount of spice as you bite into the burger. Made the drive up to Sac-Town worthwhile.




Eggplant something.  While the name of the dish was forgettable, the taste of it was not.  And, the presentation scored points as well.  Too pretty to cut up!




The Birthday boy's dessert!  Sweet tart apples with candied walnuts on a graham crust.  Yummy!

And, the best thing on the menu....Chocolate Creme Brulee.  Be still, my heart.
