where to dine this Valentine's?

Valentine's is around the corner.  Do you have plans?  Did you deliberately not make plans?
The Hunk and I don't have any plans to go out.  We have dinner with his brother and sister-in-law next weekend.   We call it the "NOT a Valentine's double dinner date."

In case you are still weighing dining options, I'd like to share a few tried and tested restaurants.

San Francisco Area

Osha - I love their Satay and Angel Wings.  I typically order from the small plate menu.  Yummy!  We've dined at the Embarcadero and Third St. locations. The quality of the food and service were pretty much the same at both locations.  Dinner for two adults was around $75.

Plouf - French cuisine.  Prix Fixe menus ($35-45pp).  From the website: "(T)rendy French seafood bistro on lively Belden Alley in the Financial District. Specializing in mussels, unique appetizers, salads, seafood dishes, and meats, we invite you to join us for a truly Parisian dining experience."  Dinner set us back by $120.

Roy's - Ahi tartare to die for.  Prix Fixe menus. I always find myself gravitating towards the braised short ribs.  Oh, la la.  The Hunk always orders the salmon.  You definitely need resies for Roy's.  If you can, ask for a specific table, and specify the occasion.  Our bill was around $130 (glass of wine + mojito, ahi tartare not on the prix fixe menu).

Napa/Sonoma Area

The Farm - a bit pricey, but you are paying for excellent service and the freshest ingredients this side of town.  You can also relax by the fire pit while you wait for your table with a glass of wine.  Our bill was easily $150 (with a bottle of wine).

A few recommendations from dear Friend, F.

Good luck and have a good one!
