choosing unconditional love
A few moons ago, I asked family and friends through Facebook and Twitter whether they would choose an iPad or a puppy (considering that both were of the same price range). I got a lot of responses to that tweet/status update, and almost everyone said - puppy!
Someone tweeted back and said that they would choose a puppy because it would give them unconditional love. I didn't fully grasp what that person meant at that time.
I do know about unconditional love from my kids. I know that there are 2 little ones who love me unconditionally from the moment they were born. And frankly, I feel the same way about them, too.
Our new puppy, Friday, has shown us another dimension to unconditional love.
We were on a wait list for a Shih Tzu puppy who would be available in early to mid-February. But then we found out that our neighbor's dog was having puppies. We took a look at Maxie and her babies. Our search ended right at the moment we saw the puppies (who were a week old then). We knew we had our puppy, and lucky enough were given pick of the litter.
I have to say that I get it.
I get it.
Raison d'etre. I get the hugs and kisses from my kids, and I get undivided attention (for the next half hour or so) from Friday.
I'm glad we chose Friday.
I'm glad we chose unconditional love.
We just have to work on the potty training bit.
