3 things I love about...
...meeting up with high school friends.
I had the chance to spend some time with friends from back in the day. I will admit to being anti-social lately. At first, I was not in the mood to socialize (felt partied-out, if that makes sense). I'm glad I decided to go. In fact, I had a really good time.
1. Over plates of sweet potato fries and calamari, we talked about old chums and how they've been. I've been in touch with most of them through Facebook, but there are some details that Fb doesn't really capture. There is nothing like connections of the face-to-face kind.
2. We reminisced about the good old days over a good selection of special brews. Back in the days of Sweet Valley High, Esprit and Madonna. We remembered the funny stuff, the memorable and not-so memorable events. Answers to questions like: "when was the last time you...."
3. In some weird way, these get-togethers bring out a side of me that has remained dormant. I feel more self-aware as I recall the glory days. Looking back, it was not as angst-ridden as I originally thought.
We've come a long way, ladies. And, I'm proud of having shared a good chunk of my youth with you guys. Looking forward to the next girls gone wil...er, girls night out.
