a banner year, 2010 edition

Week #49
of Project 52

I'm feeling a little nostalgic, sentimental even, as I look at the banners for the blog this past year.  I remember the reason(s) for selecting the particular photo or design for the monthly banner.  I also see how I shifted from one design paradigm to the next, and how I added some depth over the months (both literally and figuratively).

January 2010
This photo was take at dawn in the wonderful city of Las Vegas.
The dawn of a new day to commemorate the dawn of a new year.

February 2010
The theme for this month's photography projects was red.
I thought that this red bridge was the best depiction of the theme.
(yet it was called the Golden Gate bridge)

March 2010
By this time, I was so into bridges of the bay area.
The Bay Bridge taken from Pier 39.

April 2010
Feeling the need to shift to another design style for my banners.
I started to experiment with font and brushes.

May 2010
browns and blues.
my favorite colors.  Inspired by the flight of birds.

June 2010
my summer colors.
Something about orange...

July 2010
Influenced by our trip to Maui.
This reminded me of palm trees.

August 2010
Still could not shake Maui.
Loved how the yellow and orange colors worked with the blues.
Hanging on to summer.

September 2010
Experimenting with colors and brushes.
Inspired by amoeba.

October 2010
Combining textures from photographs and photograph brushes
to create visual interest and depth.
Inspired by Indonesian puppet art.

November 2010
Experimented with creating layer upon layer in Photoshop.
Inspired by an old cameo pin.

December 2010
Creating my own textured background in Photoshop.
As you can see, for the holidays, I was not satisfied with just one banner.
The first banner was inspired by peppermint candy.
The second banner was driven by the traditional colors of Christmas.
