We have always been fascinated by old Victorian houses, and during a trip to Alameda the hunk in my life showed my some of Alameda's finest. This set shows the one that captured my heart.
First, we love the colors. I am not sure if it is true to the period, but I loved the greys and the dark browns in contrast to the white trim and gold leaf accents.
While I could totally imagine living in this house, I cannot imagine having to clean it. The many nooks and crannies scare the living daylights out of me.
Lovely to look at, scary to clean?
It is nice to imagine what life was like in the late 1800s. How men and women were dressed back then, and how they took care of their homes. I am sure that those who lived in these types of houses had help. Lots of them. That's the only way one can live happily ever after in one of these houses.
I wanted to stop, ring the bell, and ask to be allowed inside the house if only for a few moments to take some pictures of the interior. But good sense stopped me from doing this, considering that it was a Sunday, and early morning at that.
