Photoshop: experiments in texture

Even though life is already complicated, I always seem to find ways to make it more complicated.

I find new things that will consume me and the limited amount of time I have for sleep.  One of my recent discoveries is layering in Adobe Photoshop.   However, I am so stoked that one of these pictures was featured on thepioneerwoman.com's website!

Let me preface this by saying I started playing around with these photos around 8 pm Friday night, and I didn't even notice the clock strike twelve ...

#1 - Before
Here is a shot straight out of the camera.  One of the flowers in our front yard.

#1 - After

Here it is after several textural layers of rust, redwood bark, and cement.

#2 Before
This is a picture of a ceramic vase at a local hotel.  Nice play of light on the curves of the vase.

#2 - After

Here it is after adding textural elements. Vintage-y.

#3 - Before

An orchid arrangement at a local hotel.  Nice, but missing the X factor.

#3 After

Of all the 3, this is the one I like best.
This is the one that made the cut and was featured on another website!

So stoked! Very encouraged to say the least!

This is just the tip of the iceberg, and there goes a few more hours of sleep each night. But you know what?  I loved every minute of it - planning, executing, and rendering.

Luv,
Lease
